Good Shepherd Catholic School: A Tradition of Excellence Since 1959
The Spirit of Faith, Knowledge, and Service
This simple phrase defines the atmosphere and goals that have that have been established for the students and families of Good Shepherd Catholic School. Within our school, academic excellence is further enhanced by Catholic values which foster the growth of our students as truthful, generous, and joyful people capable of becoming leaders in the Church and our community.
A Letter From the Principal
Welcome to Good Shepherd Catholic School! You’ve become a valued member of a dynamic community. Good Shepherd is a fully accredited, 4-star, A-rated school. And while we are certainly proud of these stellar accomplishments, we are equally proud of the intangibles we bring our students that further their faith development. As a mission of the parish church, staff and families work hand in hand educating children in Gospel Values and in the Catholic tradition.
The faculty and staff serving you here at Good Shepherd are among the most professional and dedicated I’ve been fortunate to work with in my years as a Catholic school system teacher and principal.
Beyond academics, Good Shepherd teachers encourage our students to excel through a variety of extracurricular activities. Those include academic teams, sports, scouts, and the arts. We also provide students opportunities to lead, and in short, to realize their best selves.
I think you’ll find our learning community is as much an extended family as a school. We are blessed with many wonderful volunteers. We have developed a Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) that promotes a partnership between home and school. Parents are encouraged to become involved in the PTO through a variety of opportunities.
We welcome the opportunity to share more about our school community. Please contact the school office at 812-476-4477 or email Mrs. Girten at kgirten@evdio.org for more information or to schedule a tour.
God bless,
Mrs. Kristen Girten, Principal

A Four-Star, “A” Rated School
Good Shepherd Catholic School is a four-star, A rated school located on a 10-acre site on Stockwell Road in the suburbs on the northeast side of Evansville, Indiana. For over fifty years, Good Shepherd Catholic School has carried out the teaching mission of Good Shepherd Parish. The school is 1 of 22 Catholic elementary schools in the Diocese of Evansville.
The staff of Good Shepherd Catholic School consists of twenty-eight faculty members, with 64% of them holding a Masters’ degree. The Evansville Vanderburgh County public school system also provides us with a part-time speech therapist and a special education consultant. We are also pleased to have a Youth First counselor/social worker on site one and a half days per week.
Good Shepherd Catholic School has experienced several exciting changes in the past several years. As part of the Diocesan Strategic Plan, Good Shepherd Parish has been linked with St. Theresa Parish. In the process, St. Theresa School closed in 2015, and several St. Theresa Parish families chose to enroll their children at Good Shepherd.
