A Tradition of Excellence Since 1959
Good Shepherd Catholic School is a four-star, A rated school located on a 10-acre site on Stockwell Road in the suburbs on the northeast side of Evansville, Indiana. For over fifty years, Good Shepherd Catholic School has carried out the teaching mission of Good Shepherd Parish. The school is 1 of 22 Catholic elementary schools in the Diocese of Evansville.
The staff of Good Shepherd Catholic School consists of twenty-eight faculty members, with 64% of them holding a Masters’ degree. The Evansville Vanderburgh County public school system also provides us with a part-time speech therapist and a special education consultant. We are also pleased to have a Youth First counselor/social worker on site one and a half days per week.
Good Shepherd Catholic School has experienced several exciting changes in the past several years. As part of the Diocesan Strategic Plan, Good Shepherd Parish has been linked with St. Theresa Parish. In the process, St. Theresa School closed in 2015, and several St. Theresa Parish families chose to enroll their children at Good Shepherd.
The Little Rams Preschool program was established in 2012. These precious preschool children have brought a new life into the school; they allow older students to develop lasting relationships with the younger students as they share learning and faith experiences with them, truly making Good Shepherd Catholic School a family. Our Pre-School and Pre-K have quickly become one of the most sought- after early learning programs in the area. In 2019, The Little Rams Preschool program was expanded, adding two learning cottages and almost doubling enrollment.
Good Shepherd Catholic School has forged lasting partnerships with the families it serves. It is rewarding to see second and third-generation students walk through the doors of the school as their families continue to choose Good Shepherd for their children’s education. In addition, the tradition of the school is sustained by seven former students who have returned as educators, dedicated to the purpose and mission of Good Shepherd. Parents are also involved in their children’s education at Good Shepherd, eager to volunteer and assist the school and teachers in a variety of ways. The Parent-Teacher Organization is active and passionate, raising funds and sponsoring activities that enrich the lives of our school families.
Good Shepherd Catholic School is an integral part of the teaching ministry of the Good Shepherd Catholic Parish community. The purpose of Good Shepherd Catholic School is to provide a Catholic education in a safe, Christ-centered environment where students are encouraged to achieve their personal best. The educational journey we provide meets the individual needs of each learner, promotes life-long learning, builds positive self-esteem, prepares them for the challenges of the future, and encourages them to become active Christians practicing the Catholic faith. Good Shepherd Catholic School values a faith-based environment that emphasizes the Catholic traditions of prayer and service; academic excellence that encourages life-long learning and the achievement of one’s personal best; character building that instills responsibility, respect, integrity, and honesty; and a strong parent-teacher-school partnership that educates the future leaders of our church and community.
